Asian Bridal Wear

Most Asian bridal gowns are made of rich fabrics in very bright colors. Asian gowns tend to feature ornate embroidery and bead work, but are representative of traditional gowns worn by the women of that culture. Asian brides tend not to wear veils that would cover their face, but rather ornate headpieces. Asian gowns and headdresses are truly beautiful in their own right.

Fashion Accessory

Fashion accessories are decorative items that supplement and complement clothes, such as jewelry, gloves, handbags, hats, belts, scarves, watches, sunglasses, pins, stockings, bow ties, leg warmers, leggings, neckties, suspenders, and tights.
Accessories can add color, style and class to an outfit, and create a certain look, but they can also have a practical function: handbags can be used to carry small items such as cash, hats protect the face in bad weather, and gloves keep hands warm.
Many accessories are produced by clothing design companies. However, there has been an increase in individuals creating their own brand name by designing and making their own label of accessories. Following the internet boom, individuals have been able to sell their own accessories online to anyone across the globe. Handmade unique accessories are in high demand today.
Accessories can be visual symbols of religious affiliation: crucifixes, Jewish stars, Islamic headscarves, skullcaps and turbans are common examples. Designer labels on accessories are perceived by some as an indicator of social status.
Over the centuries fashion accessories have changed and evolved. In 19th century English fashion accessories included items such as The Muff, The Tippet, and Tulle shawls. During this time hats and turbans were also considered fashionable.[citation needed]
The beginning of the 20th century saw radical changes in the way women began to dress. Dress became more practical and meant that accessories didn’t play such a big part in fashion during this time.[citation needed]
In the 1950s fashion accessories become more popular in the western world, with accessories such as fruit corsages to adorn sweaters or hats. Also in the 1950s eyewear began to be used as fashion accessories. The 1950s also saw the rise of the stiletto.

Analysis of Traditions and Rituals From Around the World

There are traditions and or rituals that we participate in year after year, even though we have forgotten what the meaning is or where it has come from. Every one of us has experienced some type of ritual or tradition in some form or fashion. Wedding and marriage rituals and traditions also fall true to this. There are different cultures that celebrate in different ways all over the world. There is a tradition for Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and South America, North America and even Caribbean traditions and Oceania traditions. I suppose there is a tradition or ritual for every corner of our world and for every tribe. I have even seen weddings for animals. Everyone seems to be getting into a ceremony! Within all of these different ceremonies, traditions and rituals have changed over the years. To go back hundreds of years ago, some couples did not even know each other when they were to be married, or paired up by the tribes or royal parents to choose the couple that would best suite the family.

Fashion Stylists vs. Fashion Designers

Fashion stylists and fashion designers have some similarities, but the differences are very evident. Fashion stylists hold the job title of someone who selects the clothing for published editorial features, print or television advertising campaigns, music videos, concert performances, and any public appearances made by celebrities, models or other public figures. Fashion designers simply create garments to be worn and purchased by the general public. Fashion stylists unlike fashion designers will always be in demand. They bring in more revenue upon start-up, and they are given more opportunities to travel and meet interesting people.
Famous French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent once said “Fashions fade but style is eternal.” This quote alone justifies why fashion stylists are preferable over fashion designers. As a fashion designer, there is always the need to be ahead of up-and-coming trends so that the line that is being created will be readily available for purchase.

Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra dustup on the sets of 'God Tussi Great Ho'

When Priyanka Chopra took a long time with her make up on the set of 'God Tussi Great Ho', Salman Khan did not grin and lump it, as human male species has learnt to do since recorded history. Instead, he chose to show his displeasure to Priyanka.
23 November 2007 (Sawf News) - When Priyanka Chopra took a long time with her make up on the set of 'God Tussi Great Ho', Salman Khan did not grin and lump it, as human male species has learnt to do since recorded history. Instead, he chose to show his displeasure to Priyanka.

As the shooting progressed friction between the two rose and inevitably there was a showdown in which Priyanka pulled up Salman for being rude, reports HT City.
Aggravated, Salman Khan asked director Rumi Jaffrey to announce a pack up, which the hapless Jaffery did.
Actually, Salman had arrived early on the set that day so Priyanka wasn't so much at fault. The spat probably occurred because the two have a history.
Salman miffed Priyanka when he refused to act opposite her in London Dreams last year. The film by Rajkumar Santoshi is currently on hold.
Relations remained frosty between the two since then. There were signs of a thaw when Priyanka was offered a role in Mr and Mrs Khanna opposite Sohail Khan. The film, co-produced by Salman Khan, also has him in a lead role opposite Lara Dutta.
Priyanka, one of Bollywood's highest paid actress, turned down the offer because she did not want to be paired opposite the relatively unknown Sohail Khan, sending her relations with Salman back into the weeds.
The friction between Salman and Priyanka has reportedly disrupted the shooting schedule of the film on earlier occasions too.
While filming a romantic song and dance sequence Salman refused to hold or touch Priyanka.
God Tussi Great Ho is a romantic comedy in which Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Manisha Koirala, Priyanka Chopra and Anupam Kher play lead roles. The film, that has been in the making for nearly two years, is currently in post production. A few patchwork scenes are currently being shot.

History of Fashion

Fashion is defined as a style of dress that is popular during a certain time or era (?Fashion?, 1). It often changes and reflects a persons? social class in old days. In modern times it reflects personality. Fads come and go as people find new and different things to like. Until the 20th century fashion changed very slowly. In the 20th century fashions change as quickly as lightning because of mass production and fast moving society. About every 10 years a totally new kind of dress is in style. Fashion is affected in many ways. Inventions and good economy bring many changes with it. Wars and bad economy bring plain fashion that stays for a while (?Fashion Through the Ages?, 1). Fashion often seems to go in a big loop repeating itself over and over again. Women?s fashion has changed and gone from fancy to simple and easy to wear. Here is a quick view of fashion from BC times to the future!

In ancient times clothing was simple, based more on function than style. Men and women wore a big rectangular piece of wool six feet wide and about a foot and a half taller than the person. The wool was wrapped around the person and pinned on the shoulder with a broach. Fabric was mainly white or off-white, but never bright colored. In fact red was forbidden for commoners. Hair was mainly worn in braids or covered by fabric draped like a hood.

Aishwarya Rai: Jodhaa Akbar 'is one of my dream roles'

Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai is excited about her next release 'Jodhaa Akbar' and considers her role as the Rajput princess who was married to Mogul emperor Akbar to forge a political alliance as one of her dream roles.
19 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai is excited about her next release Jodhaa Akbar and considers her role as the Rajput princess, who was married to Mogul emperor Akbar to forge a political alliance, as one of her dream roles
The former Miss World (1994), who was in the capital Wednesday, December 19, told the press:

This is one of my dream roles. The story is very interesting since it is about a love story between Akbar and his queen, despite their vast cultural and religious differences. It is a very contemplative plot, she said.
Aishwarya, whose Hollywood ambitions have been put on hold because of the continuing strike by writers, says she has no plans to relocate to Hollywood.
I am not shifting my base anywhere and am very much in Bollywood, she says.
Good idea we think and here are our reasons.
Her last Hollywood film Last Legions, and her role in it, were panned by critics and
audiences alike. The film is expected to hit theaters in India early next year, but Aishwarya is probably hoping that never happens.
Aishwarya's next Hollywood venture, Pink Panther 2, will not hit the marquee till February 2009.
Sir Ben Kingsleys' film on the Taj Mahal has yet to take off since its scripting is held up by the strike.
Under the circumstances finding good roles in Hollywood films is going to be challenging for the actress.
Heck! Finding good roles even in Bollywood films could be challenging for her if she does not watch the way her waistline is expanding.

24 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Salman made a subdued but endearing appearance towards the end of Nach Nach Baliye 3 Grand Finale Saturday, December 22. The very popular and controversial actor was ailing from laryngitis which constrained his voice but not his spirits.

The final episode was dragged to an incredible three hours by Star honchos, motivated by corporate greed in utter disregard to viewer sensibilities, forcing even Salman to take a dig at them.
Salman did his bit to keep viewer interest alive during the unending run up to the announcement of the results by calling the finalist on to the stage and dancing with them.
When the results were finally announced Salman presented the winner duo, Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh, with the Nach Baliye trophy, Rs.20 Lakhs and a Chevrolet optra

Mallika Sherawat - Hot and 'Welcome'

Mallika Sherawat would like to shed her association with steamy sex in films and be recognized instead as a competent actor with great comic timing. The problem is that may not be what her 'fans' want.
3 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Mallika Sherawat would like to shed her association with steamy sex in films and be recognized instead as a competent actor with great comic timing. The problem is that may not be what her 'fans' want.

Its been a quite some time since she played the sexually charged role of Simran Saigal in the thriller Murder (2004). The film, and a later appearance of a doctored video clip that was sexually explicit in nature, earned her the name of a sex bomb and made her an Internet sensation, as search engines labored to find the clip for millions of salivating Indian males.
Mallika learnt her lesson and has since appeared only in comic capers (Bachke Rehna Re Baba (2005), Shaadi Se Pehle (2006), Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006) ) which required her to merely flaunts her impressive assets not shed her clothes and roll in bed scene after scene as happened in Murder.
Unfortunately, the 26-year-old from Rohtak hasn't had too much of success doing comedies, despite the fact that she appears well cutout for the genre.
However, that could well change with the release of Welcome on December 21 because of the presence of an ensemble and very experienced cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Feroz Khan and Paresh Rawal
Mallika plays Ishika the love interest of not one but two Hong Kong based underworld bosses - Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar) and Majnu (Anil Kapoor), who happen to be brothers.
The film is written and directed by Anees Bazmi who gave the year's biggest hit in 2005 with No Entry.
Welcome may just be the breakthrough that could see Mallika emerge as a mainstream actress.

Kareena Kapoor: Shahid and I 'are friends'

Speaking to HT, Kareena denied reports that relations between her and Shahid are frosty and despite the success of their pairing in Jab We Met they are unlikely to feature together in a film again.

Kareena Kapoor, who is widely perceived to have dumped Shahid Kapoor to further her career, is in damage control mode now and says that even though she and Shahid aren't an item anymore they remain friends.
3 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Kareena Kapoor, who is widely perceived to have dumped Shahid Kapoor to further her career, is in damage control mode now and says that even though she and Shahid aren't an item anymore they remain friends.

That so-called cold war between us was blown out of proportion, she says. In fact, we had lunch together too, but the media doesn't know about this.
So when we read that we barely interacted at the shoot, we laughed it off. We are friends, we do talk occasionally, she said leaving us wondering what kind of friends talk just occasionally?
And what kind of friends claim sole credit for the success of a film in which they together play lead roles?
If something doesn't work out, fine, it's okay.. .but friends do remain friends yaar. That's the beauty of a relationship, Kareena continued unconvincingly.
Asked if her continued contact with Shahid could upset Saif Ali Khan, Kareena said:
Well, I think he's too mature a person. He's beyond worrying about whether I speak to Shahid or not.
In the interview, Kareena also denied recent media reports that Deepika Padukone would play the lead in Saif's first home production to be directed by Imtiaz Ali.
Really? This is news to me. Imtiaz is away in the US for two months. It's the director's call to cast an actor in the role he wants, says Kareena
Kareena has already been earmarked by Saif for a lead role in his second home production titled Agent Vinod to be directed by Sriram Raghavan.

Madhuri Dixit all praise for Konkona Sen, Vidya Balan

Madhuri Dixit finds new Bollywood actresses like Konkona Sen Sharma, Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut extremely talented and says she sees a part of her in them.

New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS) Madhuri Dixit finds new Bollywood actresses like Konkona Sen Sharma, Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut extremely talented and says she sees a part of her in them.

The young breed of actors like Konkona, Vidya and Kangana are extremely talented, chilled out and eager to learn. I see a part of me in them, said Madhuri, who was here to promote her comeback film Aaja Nachle.
Directed by Anil Mehta, the film was released last week. The Dhak Dhak girl, as she is fondly called, shifted base to the US after marriage and is back in the industry after five long years. She was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Devdas.
A lot has changed in all these years, right from the discipline to the techniques of shooting a film. Now there is sync sound and a fixed time frame to complete the film.
There is emergence of a different kind of cinema meant for niche audience and multiplexes are proving a boon to them, she added.
Busy with her home chores otherwise, the actress said her life in the US is a part of her dream but nothing can duplicate
the love she finds in India.
The life I am leading in America is a part of my dream that I had seen. And, believe me, I enjoy every minute of it. I didn't even get time to miss dance, as I am a mother of two kids and they make me dance around them, she said.
However, the love, warmth and friends that I have in this country, can never by duplicated, Madhuri told IANS.
The versatile actress started her stint in Bollywood with Abodh and gave hits like Tezaab, Dil, Beta, Khalnayak, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Dil To Pagal Hai, to name some.
Madhuri spares no chance to introduce Indian culture to her two sons - Arin and Ryan.
When they were in India they had a great time. When we are at home we speak in Hindi or Marathi. My elder son Arin speaks a little bit of Hindi and I do everything possible to keep them up on our culture, she said.
The actress, with a million-dollar smile, also stated that her comeback wouldn't have been possible without the support extended by her family.
There were many practical problems before me for instance,
to make sure my kids are happy while I am shooting. All this became possible because of the support of my family, she said.

Somebody help Vidya Balan please!

Vidya Balan always gets linked with her single male co-stars but never for long. The girl laments she is single and ready to mingle and has been that way for too long now!
18 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Vidya Balan always gets linked with her single male co-stars but never for long. The girl laments she is single and ready to mingle and has been that way for too long now!

She was linked with John Abraham during the filming of Salaam-E-Ishq but he went back to Bipasha. More recently she was linked to Shahid Kapoor following his break up with Kareena Kapoor.
The tabloids reported that the two grew close to each other in Canada on the sets of Aziz Mirza's Lucky Charm / Kismet Connection. (We so hate it when filmmakers can't settle on the names of their films before they launch it!)
However, Shahid was later linked, or more accurately relinked, to Amrita Rao, his co-star in Vivah. More recently he has been crossover linked to Sania Mirza!
That leaves Vidya Balan so not linked that the media, including us, is worried.
Whenever Vidya tries to promote her films all that the media wants to know is about her nonexistent love life.
Recently, at an event to promote Halla Bol, she was asked for the zillionth time if she was single and ready to mingle.
"Most definitely!" she almost yelled in exasperation. "And I have been so for the longest time!"

OMG! Why is it that people don't take Vidya Balan seriously.
Recently, Raj Kumar Santoshi, the director of Halla Bol was asked why he picked Vidya to play the role of Ajay Devgan's wife in the film.
"We chose Vidya because we wanted someone who doesn't look like a star and Vidya fitted the character perfectly," was his response.
See what we mean. No one takes her seriously!
While we are not too worried about Vidya's love life we are concerned that a fine actress like her does not have too many films on hand. After Halla Bol she will appear in Lucky Charm / Kismet Connection. After that we may have to wait for some time to see her again on screen.
Sajid Khan, who directed Heyy Babyy, is reportedly working on a script for a comedy that will feature Vidya Balan and Kareena Kapoor but nothing has been firmed up.
What we would hate to see Vidya do is start acting in art films!

Director, leading man bed-ridden, 'Jodhaa-Akbar' postponed

In a bizarre coincidence, both the director and leading man of the eagerly awaited Jodhaa-Akbar have been prescribed complete bed rest by the doctors. Therefore, the release date of the film has been pushed. Now the period romance will open Feb 15.
While Hrithik Roshan is incapacitated because of a knee injury, director Ashutosh Gowariker is down with a back problem.
I've had a back problem due to which I've been completely bed-ridden and completely inactive for the last few days, the distressed director told IANS.

According to the doctors, I think I'll need a week more. So I'm doing all my post-production from my bed set up in my office. And yes, we've postponed Jodhaa-Akbar by two weeks. Instead of Jan 25, it'll come on Feb 15, he added.
That means the coveted Republic Day weekend is gone!
What to do? I can't travel anywhere for at least a week! said Gowariker.

Sameera outruns Mallika in 'Race'

Sameera Reddy says she doesn't care, but the fact is she has replaced Mallika Sherawat at the last moment in Abbas-Mustan's Race.
Who cares? Roles exchange hands all the time. Bipasha (Basu) was supposed to do my role in Buddhadeb Dasgupta's 'Kaal Purush'. Does it matter? I'm just too excited working with Abbas-Mustan for the first time, Sameera told IANS.
I'm also quite taken up with the idea of working with Saif (Ali Khan), Bipasha, Akshaye (Khanna) for the first time. And you know what? I play a full-on bimbette in this film!

Sameera must be a rare actress to be so happy doing a no-brainer role.
Yes, I am! Because the fact is, from 'Musafir' onwards I'm quite tired of doing serious dark roles. I want to just let my hair down and have fun. Abbas-Mustan's 'Race' will allow that because everyone has a character to play. No one is paired with anyone. It's just about having fun, the sultry actress said.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta too is planning another film with her.
It's another Bengali film with a peculiar title, 'Me, Yasim Madhubala'. It's about voyeurism and I play a kathak dancer called Madhubala. But please don't jump to conclusions. There's nothing cheesy about the film. It's a serious study of a woman's space and how it's invaded by technology like mobile phones etc.
So are we looking at a Dasgupta-Reddy trilogy?
Sameera laughs, Well...dada did compare me with Smita Patil. So there, I'm just happy doing such varied roles from 'Kaal Purush' to 'Race'. I think 2008 is going to be very special for me.
What about that someone special in her life? It's really funny. But journalists keep making up soul mates for me when I've none. There's no space for any. In fact when someone special comes along that space would be automatically made.
